Resources

The following resources are available for the current version 2.5 of GedGap, with the Accessible PDF format e-book also available from within the application under the Help > GedGap Help menu;

If you are having any issues (e.g. importing your GEDCOM file) or you have a suggestion, please contact us with your comments.

Advisory Notes

Please note; GedGap does not currently synchronise data with GedGap2Go (no longer available for sale).

The data model had been updated in the prior version 2.0 to incorporate source relevancy and changes to storing audit information. You will be asked whether to convert your data when an older versioned Gedgap document is opened.

Wishlist

The following are minor issues identified or ideas shared from our customers to be considered for inclusion in a future version of GedGap;

  • Minor bug that last person viewed is not restored when reopening a document (when table is not sorted by Id);
    • Workaround; Click the Id column before saving your changes, and
  • Sharing of data from Mac to future iOS GedGap app.

GedGap for macOS 10.10 Yosemite

The current version 2.5 of GedGap available on the  Mac App Store requires macOS 10.11+. If you have macOS 10.10 Yosemite, you can download this special Yosemite non-MAS version.

You may need to unzip this file before moving the GedGap app to your Application folder. Since this is a non-MAS version, please ensure your Security and Privacy in System Preferences allows apps downloaded from “App Store and identifier developers”.

Demo Removed

The demonstration version of GedGap has been removed since someone has produced a modified version of GedGap v2.1 that removed the 50 record limit. This is unfortunate but to prevent people using a compromised app with unknown and undesirable features that could compromise your system, we have made GedGap available for free on the  Mac App Store from December 19, 2017.

Uninstall

To uninstall or remove GedGap from your computer;

  • If GedGap is currently running, please quit the application,
  • Delete the GedGap application file (usually located in your Applications folder) by dragging it to Trash, and
  • Optionally, delete the au.com.sevencookies.GedGap folder from within your container folder, which is located in your home Library folder (~/Library/Container/au.com.sevencookies.GedGap, where the ~ tilde symbol is your home folder).
